The Czech Leonard Film Award has been launched!

During the Karlovy Vary IFF, together with the Deputy Minister of Culture Michal Šašek, the Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region Petr Kulhánek and other supporters, I publicly announced the 1st year of the first film prize for female filmmakers, specifically for female screenwriters, directors and designers. I have been developing the Czech Leonarda for several years together with producer Jana Tomsova, with the support of Andrea Ferancová Bartoňová and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Karlovy Vary Region and @ARASU, the Association of Directors, Screenwriters and Dramaturgs.

The purpose of the award is to support women filmmakers in the development of original films, documentaries, animated films, new TV and web formats and experiments with a financial grant.

So as of Friday 5/7 2024, the prize is officially out in the world and I’m really looking forward to the first prize winners we’ll know in mid 2025.
